Located in the soft muddy delta of the Mississippi, this 53-storey office complex in the heart of New Orleans' financial district has no basement, just a 2.5-meter-deep concrete platform supported on friction piles 76 meters long.
The building's crown borrows the "Lantern" of the former St. Charles Hotel which guided sailing vessels up the river. At its base a two-level galleria of shops and cafes responds to the vernacular building style of the adjacent French Quarter in its use of cast iron columns and balconies. Above, on levels 3 to 13, is parking for 800 cars. A Skylobby at level 14 provides access to 25,000 square feet of rentable office space and penthouse offices.
