Jason Philippe

Associate
B.Arch., OAA

Over the course of his eighteen year career in architecture, Jason has participated on a full range of projects from small scale residential to urban planning at the City scale. He exemplifies the qualities of diligence, intensity, hard work and precision. His considerable skills as Project Architect include proposal writing, schematic design, presentations, design development, costing, supervision and production of working drawings, consultant coordination, and project management. While studying architecture, Jason was fortunate to have gained valuable hands-on experience in construction by working for his father and uncles' companies.

Joining M&T in 2006, Jason became an Associate in 2009. His project assignments have included work on the Interior Design of the Guelph City Hall. He was Project Designer for a custom home in Rosedale and the Queenston Plaza Border Crossing Phase 1 and Phase 2 Master Plan and Redevelopment.

Jason has been the lead on International Design Competitions including The Sheikh Zayed National Museum Competition in Abu Dhabi (top four of thirteen finalists with Norman Foster, Shigeru Ban and Snohetta), JOM Development in Makkah (jury selected winner) and Celebration Hall in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Jason has also participated on unique design projects in the Middle East including Project Manager for the Faculty and Staff Club for Education City in Doha, Qatar, as well as Project Architect and Client Liaison for the Comprehensive Master Plan for the Holy Cities of Makkah, Madinah and Mashaer in Saudi Arabia. This four year assignment included working closely with a complex network of stakeholders and high level government agencies. Jason co-led our team of designers to propose environmental and urban design strategies, which are now being implemented as the foundation for a balanced approach for redevelopment of the areas around the Holy Mosques and Holy Sites, where over three million pilgrims gather annually for Hajj pilgrimage.

Thriving in a team environment and truly embracing collaborative processes Jason is a natural leader who has a unique ability to inspire and motivate those around him. He enjoys the process of design just as much as the product of design. However what really gives him satisfaction is seeing it under construction. Simply put, Jason just loves when a plan comes together.
